This 6.3-acre facility features a play area, pool, hockey court, basketball courts, and sports fields. The recreation center has a gymnasium, and multi-purpose rooms. Hydration station available. The site was established in 1926 as the John J. McKinley Recreation Center. McKinley served as a City Councilmember for 28 years. In 1950 the site was renamed for Sergeant John J. McVeigh who gave his life in 1944 to save his army unit during battle in Brest, France.
